Biography
![]() "It gives me a lot of gratification and pleasure when I make someone’s day a little happier with my music. It’s a special thing to have someone enjoy the very thing I love to do." - Glen MacEachern Glen MacEachern, a Prince Edward Island keyboardist and vocalist, is a prominent figure on the Island music scene. His music has been described as friendly, melodic and nostalgic, covering a wide range of genres from old time to country to easy-listening to gospel. He possesses a unique style of playing described by some as a combination of Floyd Cramer and Waldo Monroe. Glen's audience engagement and rhythmic style of piano playing have helped him earn a loyal following across the province and beyond. Glen can be found at live concerts and ceilidhs across PEI and throughout the Maritimes. In spring 2006 he was invited to play at Ivan Hick’s Super Fiddle Show in Riverview, New Brunswick. Glen has also shared the stage with fiddlers such as Louise Arsenault, formerly of the award winning group Barachois, and Cynthia MacLeod and Nathan Condon, both well-known Island fiddlers. His versatility has landed him on stage beside people like Roy MacCaull, a popular singer song-writer from the western part of the province, Jericho Road, a bluegrass gospel group, Rodney Savidant , Gordon Belsher and many other singers and instrumentalists accomplished in their fields. Glen can also be found sharing his music at fund raisers, benefit concerts and at seniors' homes. PEI Music Awards Nominee Glen's first recording, Country Keyboard, was released in 2005. A compilation of old time, country, easy-listening, bluegrass and gospel tunes, Country Keyboard proved to be a big seller for Glen; a strong debut recording with broad appeal. Glen's second CD, Feeling the Rhythm, includes a mixture of familiar tunes as well as four of Glen’s own compositions. On this CD, he has included different instrument combinations and showcases a number of local musicians. The result is a rich, full sound which led to this album being nominated for a total of three Music PEI Awards - the Instrumental and Country Album of the Year in 2007 and the Roots Traditional Solo Recording of the Year in 2008.
